Why do SOME/MOST of the engineering/degree fresher’s from Karnataka do not get jobs or remain unemployed for long time? Before I start off, I think some of you might be wondering ; whats this? so, to set the mood and ambiance. This is the insights from a experienced IT professional after interviewing loads of freshers and equally good number of 1-3 years experienced folks for various posts in the company. Lot of freshers come out of college looking out for jobs and dont have a clue of whats in store or dont set their expectations and goals correctly while attending campus interviews during academic career. Paper or email tigers cant protect territories

There was a email chain going rounds that some kid in a school was stripped of the vice captain post as punishment since he/she used Kannada in school. As a starter, this measure is unacceptable and the blanket ban on speaking in non-English languages is retrograde. But, we are so much used to knee jerk reaction and dont tend to think beyond some horizon ! We are bunch of lazy buggers who raise a voice only when someone holds us against the wall. But, this method wont work for long !! There has been lot of discussions centering around Where do your kids study? What medium did you study since you dont speak good English etc. Looking at these line of talks, I am sure most of us would like their kids to study in English medium and atleast have Kannada as first language but don’t completely believe the quality of schools in and around Bangalore. So-called International schools, first follow the state!!

On Monday the Karnataka High Court ordered schools affiliated to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus to follow the Karnataka Education Act (KEA), 1988, when hiking school fees. The Karnataka High Court held that all private unaided schools in the state imparting education in Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination (ICSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus should adhere to the Karnataka Education Act, 1983. This has been a landmark judgment considering that some of the schools were charging fees in range of 2-5 lakhs per year for middle school or high school. In order to preserve ‘elite’ness and to have a ‘rich’ status symbol attached; these schools had been raising fees and charging enormous amount of fees every year after year.
